Douglas S. Kalman, MS, RD, FACN is a Director at Miami Research Associates in the Nutrition and Endocrinology Division. Mr. Kalman is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, a Spokesperson for the American College of Sports Medicine, a Spokesperson for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (2004) and on the Faculty of Healthology.com. He is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, American College of Nutrition, the American Dietetic Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Mr. Kalman is the Sports Nutritionist for NIKE’s Elite Distance Running Team, and has or is currently working with members of the N.Y. Yankees, the N.Y. Giants, United States Olympic Snow-Boarding team (medalist), and France’s marathon team. He has also contributed chapters to Nutrients as Ergogenic Aids, Sports Supplements, and The Force Program.
Yarixa Ferrao, NASM-CPT with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Yari’s introduction into the world of training and fitness occurred when she competed in a South Florida figure competition, which inspired her to become a personal trainer. She started teaching in a South Miami Fitness Studio where she experienced working one-on–one as well as teaching boot camp classes. Yari gained notice as the fitness specialist for Univision’s morning news fitness segment, Al Amanecer (“When Awakening”). She went on to a position at the prestigious Sports Club/LA in Miami, and has served as a Performance Coach at IHP in the first-ever “Personal Training Apprentice Hunt” conducted by fitness industry leaders Juan Carlos Santana and Phil Kaplan.
