Is That Really Healthy?Do you ever go to the grocery store and feel bombarded by all the "healthy claims"? I actually came across a bag of sugaryes, sugarthat said, "Naturally fat free"! And cheese that said, "Naturally low in carbs." I had to shake my head in disbelief. Are these claims fooling people into believing these foods are actually healthy? Unfortunately, I know the answer, and the answer is... well... as you probably guessed, yes. But even foods you think are healthythat should be healthycan be anything but. And even the most experienced health-food shopper has to be extra vigilant to protect him or herself from the "healthy claims" on unhealthy foods. Fortunately, in this issue, our nutrition expert, Marie Spano, takes a look at the "Not So Healthy 'Health' Foods." I found this both eye opening and frustratingno wonder eating smart can be so difficult! But with Marie's suggestions, the grocery store is bound to be at least a little less overwhelming.
