Dear friend,

Have you ever noticed that it's the little side comments that can transform the way we workout?

For instance, a couple of weeks ago, one of my daughters asked me if I was shrinking.

I admit, I'd been training hard, taking off the last layer of fat I had accumulated over the winter. I had thought I was looking pretty good. Leaner and tighter.

So why am I afraid she was looking at my biceps when she said that, and not my gut? Was it a compliment? Or an insult? Or was it just a comment... nothing more?

Either way, it's given me some extra fire for my workouts. I found myself gravitating toward the heavy weights. I even dusted off some of the "hardcore lifts": not just heavy squats but deadlifts and even cleans.

I also think it may be why I'm finding the Pain Cave Workouts you'll read about in this issue so appealing. These guys don't shy away from heavy, hard, super intense lifting. The type of lifting that's going to make you strong, powerful, and help pack on rock-hard muscle. While stripping off bodyfat fast.

Now, this is not the old-school "Olympic lifting" workout. (You remember the guys who do a set and then sit on the bench wrapping their knees for five or so minutes between sets?)

Nope.

These guys typically don't rest (at all!) between sets. These new workouts have pushed my recovery to a new level. And given my workouts a new dimension. It's surprising to a lot of people, but pushing your body, really and truly pushing it, is fun!

But it does push your recovery. And I've found that the supplements I use are even more valuable on a workout like this. Thank goodness for the Monster Stack! (That is, Morph, 3-XL, and H-Blocker.) I couldn't make it through some of these workouts without it!

Yet I know with the controversy surrounding supplements you might read from time to time in the mass media, some of you may wonder if supplements are safe. Creatine, especially, has been the victim of misreporting. Fortunately, Marie Spano reviews the actual research and shares the results with us in this issue. You may be surprised to learn the whole truth about creatine. (As a side note, all of iSatori's supplements are independently studied to ensure both their safety and effectiveness. We wouldn't have it any other way!)

Speaking of intensity... one of the hardest training athletes I know is Dave Wells. He wasn't always so committed, however.
