Dear Friend, It's cold. Really cold. Colorado went from summer to winterovernight. As the temperatures drop, the leaves change to wondrous colors, and the kids head back to school, my thoughts turn toward how we can balance our personal needsto work on building a better bodywith keeping our family healthy through the fall and winter. Well, we didn't make it past the first week of school when all three of my daughters had brought home separate bugs. Talk about throwing your schedule for a loop. If you have kids, I'm sure you can relate. Fortunately, we got them back into full health and running full swing quickly. But it brought us to full alert about ensuring healthy habits around our house. That includes simple things like making sure we wash our hands often. And we even keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car to "de-germ" when we're away from home. We also ensure we're taking our multi-vitamins, including Vitamin D, omega-3 fats, and lots of extra Vitamin C to keep our immune systems strong (personally, I take eight grams of Vitamin C a day, during the winter months). As you might imagine, we're a pretty active family. And there's a lot going on on any given day. Of course, staying active is part of staying healthy. And all three of my girls are tremendous athletes who enjoy competition. We also all enjoy getting outside and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
