More Winning Transformation WordsThe 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge Contenders Transform Inside and Out, Inspiring Others to Follow in Their FootstepsFrom The 911 UTC Team Judging the 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge is one of the most challenging and rewarding projects we do every year. It's so inspiring to see the changes the competitors make not only on the outside but on the inside as well. Because often, those inner changes are even more life-changing than the physical changes. So if you're looking for some inspiration to make your own transformation or even just need a boost of motivation for your next workout, we encourage you to read through some of the "Questions of Strength" a few of our top contenders in the 2009 911 UTC answered as they competed in the 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge. Anthony Martinez, Denver Police Department
What inspired you to enter the 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge? Several reasons inspired me to enter the 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge. I would have to say that the timing of your challenge was perfect at that point of my life when I finally looked in the mirror and said, "Enough is enough!" Toward the end of 2008, I reached an all-time-high weight of 240 lbs. I had a triple chin and a barreled belly of fat around my waist. Everything around my life was falling apart from my marriage to my motivation on the job to my overall activity on a daily basis. I would sleep an average of 10 to 12 hours a day with no drive or ambition whatsoever. I made excuses and blamed everybody around me except myself. During my younger years, I was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I was proud and fit. The problem with those days, however, is I had no choice about being in shape, and I took everything for granted. During the last couple of years, I stopped working out and became addicted to the fast-food frenzy. I read in one of your books on how the fast-food industry hooks their customers on high saturated fat and calorie meals that release a feeling in your body that you become dependant on. After reading that, I told myself I was no different than a drug addict. After being hospitalized for three days for shortness of breath, the doctor gave me a rude awakening. He said if I didn't make a change in my life, it would not be long before I developed heart disease or possibly diabetes. I was ashamed of myself. How did I go from being a fit Marine to the most out of shape guy around? After reading your book and online literature, I was convinced that iSatori was my savior. I told my wife I was going to enter the 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge. She looked at me with confusion and disbelief. I can't blame her for doubting me due to the behavioral traits I have displayed over the last two years. I put it in my head that I was going to make a drastic change. I am the kind of person who cannot do things halfway. It is either all or nothing! If there is one skill I kept from the Marine Corps that one would prove to be the most beneficial during the next 12 weeks. I read the challenge packet and was highly motivated to compete. What bothered me the most about the challenge is that Denver Police Department had the most participants but rarely placed as a Champion or finalist. My goal for round #1 was to represent my City to the best of my ability. The challenge and competition made the workouts more fun and motivating. The challenge inspired me because it gave me hope. It convinced me it is never too late to make a change. What obstacles, if any, did you have to overcome to achieve your new, improved physique and complete the Challenge? I had to overcome several obstacles to accomplish my mission and finish the challenge. The first obstacle was to become organized on how and what I was going to eat. The second obstacle was to organize and log my workouts, keeping on track following the Lean System Success Plan workout. I purchased a three-ring binder and downloaded iSatori's workout log and meal planner. I made a strict grocery list and scheduled the trip with my wife every Sunday before the start of my week. I only purchased food that was high in protein, low in fat, with moderate carbs. I had to teach myself how to prepare these meals instead of going through the drive-thru at McDonalds. I learned how to manage my time by cooking several chicken breasts, boiled eggs, fish filets, and sweet potatoes on Sunday. I prepackaged them so my week was very simple in determining my meals for the day. The third and hardest obstacle was getting past my fast-food craving. Again, I was no different than a crack addict, always craving the fatty meals at any drive-thru window. I mentally brainwashed myself to say, "NO!" to the poison that was killing me. The fourth and final obstacle was working with my wife. I explained to her I was not going to be eating the foods she prepared due to my goal of becoming a winner. At first she was not happy with this decision. Through time, she accepted my request and things worked themselves out as she now has became involved in a healthy eating lifestyle with me. After getting past these obstacles, the workouts and meals just fell into place with great results. How has your job performance been positively affected as a result of your accomplishments and the transformations you've made in your physical appearance? My job performance has been highly affected by my transformation. As a supervisor, my troops look to me for answers and guidance on a daily basis. Before this challenge, I was so unmotivated and did the bare minimum to get by. I know this affected me and my appearance to everyone around me. I have a new feeling inside me now. I have a feeling of wanting to help others feel as good as I do. I am so shocked by how many Officers come to me for advice on how to get back in shape. They are in the same position I was in prior to my transformation. I have repeated myself over a hundred times to several different officers on how I believe the iSatori workouts are the gospel of Body Building. Several of my officers have started the same workout and challenge your company supports. It makes me feel good to know I can give advice to others so they too can experience this awesome feeling of being fit and feeling good. My own Lieutenant told me a few weeks ago he has noticed a huge difference in my attitude and commitment as a supervisor. He told me he was highly impressed with my appearance and activity during my shift. I have to credit this accomplishment to the iSatori workout programs and the support and advice I received from your staff. I am a true believer in the iSatori programs offered by your company. Your supplements are definitely superior and good enough to be backed by a guarantee. I look forward to improving my physique to the next level during round #2. My next goal is to prove that the Max Growth Volume 2 program is no joke! I want to continue to lean out and also gain lean muscle mass in the next 12 weeks. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your team. 2010 911 Ultimate Transformation Challenge Starts 1/1/10Feeling inspired and ready to start your transformation? Are you a Colorado civil servant?
