    It's good that you are keeping active.

     

    I got looking more closely at your workouts and was stumped.  I couldn't tell if you were listing the reps first or the resistance.  For example, did you do 10 curls with 60 lbs of weight or 60 curls with 10 pounds of weight?

    Good to see that you've done a little something every day.  I was worried about you when you didn't post.

     

    Now that I've got your weight/rep notation clear, I'd ask one more question.  Do you just do the one set of each exercise, or do you do more?  How long do you usually spend with the weight-bearing part of your workout?

     

    Are you seeing any strength gains?  Body-composition changes?  Beyond being fit, do you have any goals with your workouts?

    Skinny:

    I've been doing only one set lately as sort of an add-on after my racketball games on Saturday.  It usually takes about 15 minutes.

    So I don't think I'm making much strength gain.  I'm keeping my weight down.  Body composition is about the same.

    Good question about goals.  Now that I've reached the weight recommended my my doctor, I'm exercising for the fun of it, to keep fit, to look good, to live longer and to help with my medical condition.  Parkinson's slowly takes away mobility, balance, posture and strength.  Exercise gives them back. 

    If I were going to set some quantitative goals, I think I would like to be able to do more chinups and have a flat stomach.  I don't know if I'm ready to do what that takes though.

    I just noticed that you're up to 2 chinups now.  Way to go.  My daughter had quite a bit of success improving her chin-up endurance by doing several sets to failure.  Try doing your 2, then move on to your other exercises, but come back and do another 1 or 2 at the end.  This is how you'll push it over to 3, and then on and on.

    Have a nice holiday with those kids of yours.
