I've been reading the email ISatori publication for over a year.  I've generally scanned the articles and just figured I'd get to it later....

Introducing :)

Tim
38 year old male
200 lbs
high blood pressure
ADD....only recently diagnosed but explains a lifetime of feeling inadequate in areas of organization, follow-through, etc.
1 month ago quit chewing tobacco, still holding on...(this one's really good)
family of 4....so whatever food decisions I make, so goes the family :)

I was looking at some recent pictures and realized I've let things get way out of hand.  I started a few weeks ago with 3-4 days a week of cardio (mostly aqua arobics, and home strength training---on a budget at the moment), stopped eating fats and sugars, and really focused on portion control and calories per day.  I was using another forum (www.sparkpeople.com) to help track my calories and exercise benefits and that interface is a great help.  In addition, I was using slim fast bars and drinks to offset those meals that I'd either skip or "graze on snacks".  In two weeks I dropped 15 lbs and was feeling great.  My personal motivator was I needed to pass a physical for work and so I trained hard to pass....and then still came up short.  Which I'll admit has taken the wind from my sails.  Part of the problem appears to be that I recently moved from 410 ft above sea level to 5700 ft and its taking some time for my body to adjust....but I'm still overwheight and under exercised.

So, here I am.  Struggling to grab a hold of a new motivator and having a hard time getting back into the swing of things.  Any ideas or suggestions?  Are there supplements that I could be taking to help improve the lack of energy feeling?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Welcome to the board.  It sounds like you've got motivation--a job requirement!  But it does take some intrinsic motivation to follow the day-in-day-out regimen required to get/stay fit.  I think journaling here on the board gives that to me.  I know that folks here care and that they'll get on my case when I fall short and cheer me on when I succede, daily if need be.

So start by giving us a journal of a couple of days of your eating--what did you eat, when, and how much.  Do the same with your workouts.  Maybe we can spot some places to improve.

I'm in the tops of the Rockies, so I can understand thin air.  You'll get over the hurdle in a month or two.  I'm heading down to sea level in a few days.  I'll see what THAT's like on the cardio and weights.
